10 local schools share in SPAR’s €10,000 Christmas Campaign

10 local primary schools from around Ireland recently shared in SPAR’s €10,000 Christmas campaign, which was aimed at getting the nation singing along to the theme of SPAR’s award-winning Christmas TV advert.

The advert, SPAR Finding Christmas, made its debut last Christmas and features a soundtrack specially produced in 2022 by a supergroup of emerging musical talents with Meath folk duo ‘Water’s Edge’ on lead vocals in a new rendition of The Raveonettes’ modern classic, ‘The Christmas Song’, which featured in the original ad back in 2012.

With a prize fund of €10,000 up for grabs, SPAR launched a school’s choir competition encouraging schools across the country to check out a karaoke style version of the TV ad on the brand’s YouTube channel. Equipped with lyrics and a karaoke bouncing-ball, the video made it simple for budding choirs to learn and deliver the lyrics. 10 winning schools were selected from the many entries and have received €1,000 each, while the pupils from 3rd Class in St James’s Primary School, Basin Lane, Dublin 8, were hailed the overall winners and received a visit to their school by Santa and SPAR Brand Ambassador, Kellie Harrington, to announce the wonderful news.

A special video featuring the winning students will play on SPAR’s social media channels over the days running up to Christmas Day.
