TV Star Chooses Winner Of Sandwich Contest in Family Fun Day Celebration
Lucky customers got more than they bargained for when they called in to Fitzpatrick’s New Lodge SPAR last Saturday – and found Donal Skeehan judging a sandwich contest.
The celebrity cook was in town to choose the winner of the New Lodge Sandwich Competition at the grand opening of the top-of-the-range SPAR store.
It was a close battle, but Carmelisa Dunne was eventually crowned the winner thanks to her sandwich, a toastie made from Batch Bread with pesto, mayo, chicken breast, swiss cheese, sun dried tomatoes and rocket.
Donal said: “It was hard to choose just one winner from the very tasty finalists, but Carmelisa just had that special something that pushed her over the edge.”
Retailer Donal Fitzpatrick said having Donal there was the icing on the cake of a very special customer celebration that included face-painting, balloon modelling, and fun for all the family.
He said: “Today was all about giving something back to all our trusted and valued customers. I hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.”
JH Fitzpatrick, the company behind the filling station and store, is celebrating 60 years in business this year. Fitzpatrick’s New Lodge SPAR employs 36 members of staff.
