Creating a positive and long-lasting impact

Supporting our people

At BWG Foods UC, we believe in the power and passion of the thousands of people who work across our network.  It is our responsibility to support those committed to working for our business each day and we have focused our efforts on a comprehensive range of health and well-being supports through our BWG B-Well App, which also includes a best-in-class Employee Assistance Programme.

BWG Academy

The BWG Academy is designed to provide a wide range of self-development and support programmes that afford over 23,000 retail employees across SPAR, EUROSPAR, MACE, LONDIS and XL store networks with the opportunity to develop new skills that will support the pursuit of long-term and rewarding careers in the retail sector. Through these partnerships, BWG Foods UC supports independent retailers and their employees on the journey to gaining recognised qualifications, all the way to Degree and Masters level.

We have a dedicated centre located in Dublin’s North City Business Park that features a state-of-the-art practical training facility offering a wide range of courses from practical food management skills to retail management skills.

Supporting healthier, happier communities

Through the extensive reach of our operations, we strive to have a positive impact on society and the communities that we operate in and serve, both corporately and through our retail brands. Over the years, we have contributed to and partnered with a range of charities and organisations to give back to our communities, including Business in the Community, Feeding Ireland’s Future, FoodCloud, Too Good To Go, the Simon Community, Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association, LauraLynn, Down Syndrome Ireland and Make-A-Wish to name but a few.

FoodCloud Charity Partnership

BWG Foods UC has been working with FoodCloud to redistribute excess food to those in need since 2015.  FoodCloud connects businesses like BWG Foods UC to community and voluntary organisations such as Meals on Wheels, various after school clubs and homeless shelters providing them with great quality food that would have otherwise been assigned to waste. BWG Foods UC has donated more than 315 tonnes of food to those vulnerable to food insecurity, equivalent to over 750,000 meals.
