BWG Foods has today signed a major new agreement with Donnelly Fruit & Veg (“Donnelly’s”) resulting in the establishment of a new nationwide supply chain for the Group. The exclusive three year partnership, valued at €50 million, will see Donnelly’s manage the supply of chilled and fresh produce to approximately 900 SPAR, EUROSPAR, MACE and XL stores across Ireland.
The exclusive partnership with the Irish supplier will lead to Donnelly’s establishing a bespoke 35,000 sq.ft delivery hub at Kilshane Cross in North County Dublin in order to supply BWG’s retailers nationwide. As a result of the deal Donnelly’s has confirmed investment of €500,000 in the facility and the creation of 21 new jobs.
According to Willie O’Byrne of BWG Foods, “Following on from the recent acquisition of Morris Brothers, and confirmation of the establishment of our new 240,000 sq,ft national distribution centre in Kilcarbery, today’s announcement represents another significant step forward for BWG. Our exclusive arrangement with Donnelly’s means we now have established a consolidated chilled food supply chain delivering over 900 fresh lines to our retailers right across the country. These significant investments are designed to keep our retailers at the forefront of convenience retailing – ensuring they continue to meet and exceed the expectations of customers.”
“Our new nationwide chilled supply chain will allow us to deliver the freshest produce in a timely and consistent manner and we’re pleased that two Irish-owned and operated companies can partner to provide a market-leading logisitcs solution.”
Speaking about the new deal, Brian Doyle, General Manager, Donnelly’s said, “We are delighted to bring our partnership with BWG to the next level. The vote of confidence by BWG has allowed the company expand our footprint and enhance our offering delivering quality produce and service to customers throughout Ireland.”
