Irish Hospice Foundation to be supported by Londis retailers for two-year term

December 18: Leading Irish retail convenience brand Londis has announced Irish Hospice Foundation as its new national charity partner for the next two years, with an initial donation of €10,000.

Chosen by Londis retailer, Irish Hospice Foundation works to ensure that the best end-of-life and bereavement care is available to those requiring such support. Its vital services include Nurses for Night Care and its bereavement support resources providing advice, signposting and support. In 2022, Irish Hospice Foundation provided families with 2,673 nights of Nurses for Night care and answered in excess of 1,423 calls on its Bereavement Support Line.

As the national charity for dying, death and bereavement, Irish Hospice Foundation is driven by a fundamental belief in the importance of dying well and grieving well wherever the place as well as supporting individuals and families. They also actively campaign for change in these areas by advocating and influencing the development and implementation of national policy.

Londis retailers will support the charity through a variety of fundraising initiatives as well as through collection mechanisms instore and a donation on selected Londis Own Brand products.

Commenting on the new Charity partnership, Conor Hayes, Londis Sales Director, said: “Londis is proud to work with Irish Hospice Foundation as our new charity partner. We hope that our support will continue to help improve the lives of everyone availing of their services. Our nationwide network of Londis retailers voted overwhelmingly to support this charity and we look forward to doing so for the next two years.”

Irish Hospice Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Paula O’Reilly, said, “Irish Hospice Foundation is delighted to have been chosen as Londis charity partner and we’re very much looking forward to all the opportunities it will present for us. Our work in supporting people to die and grieve well, is in all communities across the country and that’s why being able to highlight our work through the many Londis stores will be invaluable.”

Londis retailers select a new charity partner every two years and will be supporting the Irish Hospice Foundation through to 2025. To kick off the charity partnership, Londis retailers made an initial donation of €10,000.
