MACE has launched a Food…Too Good to Waste initiative in collaboration with STOPFoodWaste.ie, which aims to help people make the most of their food, keep it fresher for longer and avoid food…
Local convenience group MACE is to sponsor RTE’s Local Heroes TV programme when the series returns on Wednesday 8th May, representing an overall marketing investment of €250,000 by owners and operators of the brand, BWG Foods.
Last December, RTÉ Local Heroes, in association with MACE, invited applications from individuals or groups around the country who were doing something visionary to create jobs in their local communities. This series tracks the efforts of six groups – in Ballyshannon, Boyle, Carrick-on-Suir, Killaloe/Ballina, Dublin and Wexford – who have each come up with a unique idea to boost their local economy and keep their town on the map.
As well as sponsorship of the series, which includes a specially created ad sting, MACE is supporting and promoting the wider initiative at store level with its own ‘MACE Local Hero’ campaign whereby shoppers get to nominate their favourite staff member.
Alex Banahan, Sales Director for MACE Ireland said: “As a local retailer operating in towns and communities across Ireland, MACE is very proud to be supporting a cause close to our own heart – local enterprise and employment. Our retailers are independent operators and like the Local Heroes highlighted in this series, are working hard to create sustainable and thriving communities. Not only does this make for great television but it’s a great initiative overall and we congratulate those individuals and groups who are passionate about making a positive contribution to the places they live and work,” he said.
Presenter of Local Heroes, Joe Duffy said: ‘In the midst of all the doom and gloom, it’s fantastic to see people showing real leadership in their communities, and we’re delighted to give these Local Heroes a platform to show the difference they can make.’
Local Heroes has been produced by Animo TV for RTÉ. It goes to air on RTE One at 8.30pm Wednesday 8th May and will run for six weeks.
