MACE Lissycasey Celebrates Retailer Award at Ireland’s Forecourt & Convenience Retailer Awards

Talty’s MACE Lissycasey was the worthy recipient of the “Best Site with a Licence to Sell Alcohol” award at Ireland’s Forecourt & Convenience Retailer Awards in the Shelbourne Hotel on Dublin’s Stephen’s Green, fighting off stiff competition from four other retailers across the country. The prestigious award, which recognises best practice in the presentation and sale of alcohol, was awarded to MACE Lissycasey on the back of a major store revamp which took place earlier this year marking a very successful year for owners TJ and Cathal Talty and their staff.

The store, which employs 25 staff locally and is a big supporter of the local community, focuses on delivering leading edge customer service, value and above all, quality. In addition to the award winning in-store off-licence, MACE Lissycasey also boasts a Hot & Cold Deli, MACE Café, in-store bakery, fruit & veg department and butchery.

Speaking about the award, TJ Talty said: “we are delighted to be receiving this award, recognising some of the stellar work that has gone on within the shop and behind the scenes over the past year. This award is testament to our wonderful staff, but also our loyal customers who have undoubtedly guided us in delivering on their individual needs. We are eager and excited to push on, breaking the boundaries, finding new ways in meeting our customers’ needs”.

Congratulating the store, Willie O’Byrne, Managing Director, BWG Foods (operators of the MACE brand in Ireland) said: “I would like to extend due recognition to TJ and Márie Talty and their family and all the staff at MACE Lissycasey. TJ Talty has put a huge amount of work and a significant financial investment into this brand new forecourt and it’s not surprising that it has already begun to pay off. I congratulate TJ, Cathal and the Talty family for their energy and enthusiasm and I wish them continued success with the business”.

Attending the award ceremony on the night were TJ, Máire, Cathal, Myra and Grainne Talty. Talty’s MACE Lissycasey was also shortlisted for the Best Food to Go category at the awards.

The IFCR award was first initiated to recognise outstanding Irish retailing standards across 13 categories including Best Customer Service, Forecourt/Convenience Store of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. MACE has been serving local communities for more than 50 years. Operated by independent retailers, the network includes local community stores as well as forecourt shopping, with approximately 240 stores around the country.
