Rosanna Davison, best-selling author and nutritional therapist launch the Annual SPAR Christmas Twitter Tree in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland
Each #underthetree tweet in the run up to Christmas will bring SPAR closer to a fully lit Christmas tree and a €20,000 Cystic Fibrosis Ireland donation.
Best-selling author and nutritional therapist, Rosanna Davison officially launched the SPAR #underthetree Twitter campaign last night, which will help raise up to €20,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland this Christmas.
The unique campaign, now in its fourth year, is powered by tweets using the #underthetree hashtag. The convenience retailer is asking people to get involved and help them light each and every bulb on their famous Christmas tree, located on the roof of SPAR in Ranelagh, which will help raise much needed funds for the hospital.
With every #underthetree tweet received, it will fuel a light on the tree to be turned on, and once all the lights are illuminated, SPAR will make the substantial donation of €20,000 to Cystic Fibrosis Ireland, celebrating its first year as the official charity partner.
Speaking about the partnership and the festive campaign, Fergal Smyth, Fundraising Manager Cystic Fibrosis Ireland said, “The SPAR #underthetree campaign is a fantastic festive campaign that helps raise vital funds for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. CF is a genetically inherited disease that primarily affects the lungs and the digestive system. Monies raised will be used to support independent living for those with cystic fibrosis in areas such as education, health, housing, employment and family support. We rely heavily on donations such as this and we are extremely thankful to SPAR retailers for their support.”
SPAR has been the corporate partner of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland since May 2017 for the next two years, and so far has raised over €105k through coin box collection points at tills in-store, as well as by donating a percentage of own brand product sales.
According to Colin Donnelly, SPAR Sales Director: “SPAR is delighted to be associated with Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and we are thrilled to hear of the fantastic projects that are being undertaken with our donations. We hope the public gets behind this fun Christmas Twitter Tree initiative by tweeting #underthetree so we can donate a further €20,000 this Christmas.”
The SPAR Twitter Tree can be viewed live online at www.spar.ie from December 4th to 31st 2017.
