BWG Foods has today announced an investment of €2,000,000 in a significant refurbishment of Value Centre Cash & Carry, following fire damage last summer. The works are scheduled to be completed in June this year and will see Value Centre Castlebar restored to a full service Cash & Carry, serving businesses across the West of Ireland.
Speaking about the investment John Moane, Managing Director of BWG Foods Wholesale Division said: “Following the unfortunate fire incident last summer, our immediate priority was to ensure an uninterrupted service to customers and re-deployment of all our staff to alternative locations. Our focus now is to get Value Centre Castlebar up and running again as it serves a key geographical area in our nationwide network and is an important local business in Castlebar. We are making a substantial investment in not only restoring, but upgrading the facility.”
Outlining plans for Value Centre Castlebar, Niall Mangan, Regional Manager, Value Centre said: “When we reopen in June, customers can expect the same focus on customer service and value for money but improved access in terms of layout and range.”
The refurbished site will implement the most up to date category management principles and planograms, which will result in more efficient and effective use of space. This will lead to a more user-friendly experience for local customers with enhanced range and improved layout of products, with an emphasis on value offers.
Value Centre Castlebar Manager Frank Duffy added, “We’re excited to see this refurbishment project get under way as we’re all looking forward to returning to a new and improved place of employment from which to serve our loyal customers.”
Located in Moneen Industrial Estate, Castlebar, Value Centre employs 14 staff locally and has been in operation for over thirty years. Customers are currently being catered for from Value Centre Galway and a temporary location in Castlebar at Spencer Park, with all staff being retained at one of these locations until Value Centre Castlebar reopens.
With 22 branches in locations across Ireland, Value Centre is the leading cash & carry wholesaler with the largest network in Ireland. Value Centre is owned and operated by the Wholesale Division of BWG Foods. The Wholesale Division of BWG Foods is comprised of Value Centre, XL retail group as well as BWG Foodservice – a nationwide, multi-temperature, full-line foodservice business.
