BWG wins Health & Safety Award
Health and Safety is the utmost priority for BWG Foods’ National Distribution Centre (NDC), located in Kilcarbery, Co. Dublin. The standards that such a facility and operation demands are enormous, and…
As one of Ireland’s leading retail and wholesale organisations, BWG Foods takes its responsibility very seriously when it comes to the environment and sustainability.
Our commitment includes having one of the most sustainable delivery fleets in operation and we are passionate about doing what we can to minimise our impact on the environment, where and when we can, which also includes our membership of Origin Green and support for FoodCloud.
As such, we were delighted to be invited to witness the signing of the new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Ireland Food Waste Charter. BWG Foods was one of the original signatories of the Food Waste Charter in 2017 and was delighted to accept the invitation by EPA Director General Laura Burke, Minister Ossian Smyth, Minister of State with responsibility for Public Procurement, eGovernment and Circular Economy (pictured) and Minister Charlie McConalogue, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to attend the event at Farmleigh House to witness State Agencies Bord Bia, Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Enterprise Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Teagasc to sign their Charter pledge.
BWG Foods, through our Chief Commercial Officer, John Moane, was delighted to signal our support for – and recommitment to – the Charter. As a company, BWG Foods is very proud to be part of the solution to wasted food – from our repurposing food waste into fuel to power our Bio-fuelled delivery fleet to taking effective actions to reduce the waste of food in the wider retail context.
