SPAR Dame Street Wins Store of the Year Award at Retail Excellence Ireland Awards
Dublin City’s SPAR Dame Street has been awarded the coveted Store of the Year title at the annual Retail Excellence Awards, held recently in Galway. Following over 600 entries to the awards programme, the city centre store was recognised amongst its peers as being best-in-class within the 2,500-5,000 sq. ft. category.
The Retail Excellence Ireland Awards is the largest of its kind in the retail sector in Ireland and recognises the professionalism and flair of companies, stores, websites and individuals in the industry.
Commenting on the win, Catherine McCarthy said, “We are delighted and humbled to have been recognised as a leader in our industry. Being a city centre store, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to satisfy our customers’ needs and expectations. We continue to benchmark ourselves against the highest standards in retailing and as a result are committed to continually evolving our product and service offering.”
Congratulating Charles and Catherine McCarthy and the SPAR Dame Street team, Willie O’Byrne, Managing Director BWG Foods (owners and operators of the SPAR Brand in Ireland) said: “Considering the massive competition faced within this category and the overall retail industry, it’s a great honour to see a store within the BWG network receive national recognition for being best-in-class. SPAR Dame Street is one of the busiest stores in the capital and it is testament to the outstanding work of their team that they continue to set the standard in terms of convenience retailing in Ireland. I congratulate Charles, Catherine and the wider team on this great achievement and wish them continued success with the business.”
Having recently redesigned the store in 2012, SPAR Dame Street is one of the brand’s flagship stores with an expansive offering across its key departments including an Hot and Cold Deli, Seating Area, Insomnia Barista, Full Off Licence, ATM and Lotto. The popular store has also attracted attention from SPAR International in the past having hosted delegates from SPAR Shanxi in China while on a look and learn business development tour.
SPAR Dame Street employs 50 people and is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, 352 days a year.
